Uniqueness of each journey

Image
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.. (Psa 139:14)   Doing church this morning, there was a very interesting discussion about mental health and the effects of lockdown. There are so many opinions and ideas out there; on social media, in conservations. Everywhere you turn, there is an opinion to pull you over to this side and that side. Life is never black and white, but shades of uncertainties, fear, joys, and achievements. There are no two people with the same history, background, mental wellbeing, and life experiences.  What makes one person tick and makes another feel. Each person has their own journey. It is unique to that person. It is the beauty of life that we have such an amazing range and variety of people to interact with. And somehow, we are tried to push others to be the same as us for whatever reason. There is a saying, “Slow to speak, quick to listen”. Listening to others does not mean we have

So Will I (100 Billion x)

Today, I was thinking how easy it is to forget how great and awesome LORD is. I mean, yes, I worship and singing praise daily but sometimes, the heart needs to " just get it! " No lip-syncing, no pretending I believe. The heart, soul, and body line up and it just gets it. This song from Hillsong comes to mind, " So Will I (100 Billion X) ". Just sang it in my own worship and felt it is such a powerful declaration in this world climate, where there is such a focus on self-preservation that we lose sight of the God of Creation.  God of creation There at the start Before the beginning of time With no point of reference You spoke to the dark And fleshed out the wonder of light And as You speak A hundred billion galaxies are born In the vapour of Your breath the planets form If the stars were made to worship, so will I I can see Your heart in everything You've made Every burning star A signal fire of grace If creation sings Your praises, so will I God of Your promise

Every day has its own beauty and treasures

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17)   As Melbourne heads into another extended lockdown for a number 6.0, it is easy to fall into the negative mindset while I am sitting at my desk working as I have done for the last 2 years.  But I look outside my window, the pair of birds are whistling lovingly at each other, the glorious sunlight is flickering off the glistening leaves of the lemon tree. I decided to take the book which I have been reading and sit in the garden for lunch to catch up on reading. As I sat there, bath in the beautiful Melbourne’s Winter sun. The light breezes blowing on my face, with the chills still drifting in the air. Reminding that it is still Winter but Spring is well on its way. I thought about life over the last couple of weeks - my struggles. My hopes and desires to travel to China; praying for an opportunity, not only to travel to China but

Love

Image
It is amazing the things you learn from watching things. Recently I was watching an interview with one of my favourite actresses. she was asked about her thoughts on love and independence for females. The answer she gave was pretty deep and it sort of, got me thinking about God’s love for us. For most of us, we have an ideal thought about love in a romantic way. When we fall in love, everything in the world will be rosy and all the stars will align in perfect harmony. We forget about everything else. But the answer that she gave aligns similarly with my own thoughts – as well as being a good partner but the person should also be a good friend. They should awaken and stir you, support and help you develop and pursue one’s own work as well as caring the family. This led me to think about God’s love. People have asked me why I believe in Christianity. I tell them it is because of God's love but what does it mean? What I have learned about God’s love is this. 1.       He is my

Lift up your eyes

Scripture: Isa 40:26 (NASB) Lift up your eyes on high And see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing.   The recent journey I have been on has been one of discovery, frustration, and well… uncertainty. What I have found is that my gaze has dropped. Physically, I would walk and with my eyes to the ground. Like I didn’t want to face the world. I guess it is the same spiritually as well. In the dwelling of my thoughts – problems or otherwise, I started to be reflective and well… inward focus. This isn’t bad. Contrary I think it is good to be reflective. But prolong dwelling on one’s own problem leads to issues. I found myself drawn into an “ocean of self-consuming thoughts”, and that isn’t a good thing, leading to a sea of negative thinking. In trying to find a way out, I start to dig through the Bible, and inte

Problems, Problems and Problems...

Scripture: Daniel 6:13-14 “ Then they said to the king, “Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, Your Majesty, or to the decree you put in writing. He still prays three times a day.”   When the king heard this, he was greatly distressed; he was determined to rescue Daniel and made every effort until sundown to save him. ”   As Melbourne enters into lockdown 5.0 for this year, it has been increasing difficult at times to maintain an upbeat spirit. But this devotion has been stirring for a long time, and I have procrastinated for one reason or another. Today is the day. In the story of this passage; Daniel’s enemies lured the king into making a decree that no one can pray to any god but him. Knowing that this would trap Daniel. But Daniel didn’t stray and continue his daily prayers. Long story short (read Daniel 6 if you are interested), Daniel fell into the trap, king was upset since he liked Daniel but too late. He had to throw Daniel into the l

Remember The Goodness!

Image
'I will remember the works of the Lord; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.' Psalms 77:11 Look back over 2020, what a year it has been! Who would have thought at the start of 2020, the year would turn out like this. All change with an unprecedented pandemic, lock-down of the whole state for 6 months, and who knows what else would happen. Along with the craziness, the year has represented major changes in my own life. Letting go of the old and trusting in the new promises of the future. So looking back though it has been a long struggle and inconvenient at times; looking back I feel a great deal of thankfulness and a touch of sadness. My family, friends, and I have been well. Praise God that we have not been affected by the sickness. So it is a time to celebrate and be thankful. I know it is easy for us to focus on the negative and the difficult things in life. The news is filled with it on a daily basis, yet when I think about God's goodness over the year. How
